The cat died but boy lived

when Flemming was experimenting on pencillin he injected it to rabbits and was very dissappointed with the results as rabbits excreted them very fast.He was very sincere and dedicated with the research he conducted so were his assistants.
one day when a young boy with high fever and swollen face and joints was brought to him,he was perplexed and was undecided.THe pencillin was upper most in his mind as he was sure that only that could save the boy but --should he or should not he inject it ?
his assistant caught a cat and injected it with pencillin and they kept quite for they did not want to tell this to Flemming.
Flemming thought for some time and decided to go ahead and inject the boy with pencillin.This is now history but what happend in the lab that day ? Did the assistants tell Flemming about the cat ?
The assistants had tied the cat to a post and when Flemming came back after lunch they showed him the cat.All of them watched the cat,which died a terrible death with in a few hours.All of them were really upset and were thinking that the boy may also die similarly but to their surprise --lo behold !-the young boy himself walked into the lab with a bunch of flowers to thank Flemming and his team.
Do we need to do animal experimentation ? Are we like cats ? or dogs or any other human being ?
