Isn't it time then that male domination is put aside and allow equal opportunities?

In many organizations, they do offer equal opportunities, but not for top positions which are still mainly male dominated in many parts of the world today. But they all like to state that they are equal opportunity employers.

It is a widely accepted theory that behind every successful man is a woman. But who takes the credit?

There has to be equal respect and recognition for both man and woman. Cultures and traditions in most Eastern Societies don't allow it. Many excuses are put forward, but they no longer hold water.

Society often supports the oppression of women for obvious reasons. While respecting the opinions of elders and other religious dignitaries, it is sad to think that the problem most often arises if whoever gives advice is with limited vision and low exposure and is entrenched in the ways of the past. The whole matter will need to have a serious rethink. On the other hand if their opinions are based on past experiences, it is good to consider their opinions before making what would be a bad decision. Maybe a compromise in the decision. These age old concepts given respect have to be revised.

Every day is a learning process. Keeping abreast of the times and adapting to the situation is what is called for. But, all this will take away the true identity of the people, their traditions and culture. But what is important in today’s society? Indirectly, the whole family becomes oppressed by economic instability.

Economic considerations play a major role in shaping a society. Women are needed to contribute to the family budget. Only if they are educated enough that they can hope for a decent job to be able to make ends meet.

Today’s world is a changed and changing world. Morals are not what they were. Society has to be guided to follow and maintain good and exemplary lifestyles and who better than parents, teachers, religious leaders and organizations that cater to personal development? Good education therefore plays a major role in shaping a good society.
If at all, it will no doubt accelerate the development of a country.

It does not mean that women will no longer respect men and that in a marriage he will not be the head of the household. It does not have to be that way. When a marriage takes place the couple promises to love and respect each other. It is this mutual love, respect and sharing of everything in good times and bad, and in sickness and health that matters most. It is from here that a society is shaped.

In a good marriage ownership is referred to as ‘ours’ and not ‘mine’.
