Teenage movies that defines my generation
Hi y'all.
It's my first blog here, and as i was thinking of what i would write, i caught an old movie poster i had on my bedroom door. The faces of Jim and Stiffler looks at me in fresh eyed not-so-innocence of teenage hoolabaloo and i realize that it's what i should write about. Though it's unnecessarily be about the warm baked pie me and my friends went on a quest for.
As a teenager, i was exposed to the influx of teen movies that suddenly floods our teenage lives. Me and my friends were the generation of 15 to 18 year olds who catches movies like Can't Hardly Wait, American Pie, those Jennifer Love Hewitt slasher flicks, those Freddie Prinze Jr teenage romance (God, where the hell is this dude now anyway) and many more. Those were the times that teenage flicks were marketable. For me, the 80s teenage flicks were either a) too cheesy or b) too stupid while the 2000s teenage flicks always seems to try to be too clever for their own good.
Sometimes i look around me and i realized that at some points of our lives, we were all trying and hoping that we're like the characters in the teenage movies we've seen. Hoping that we can and would experience all the parties and proms and possiblities that these characters endure over 2 hours. All of us hopes to score with the hottest chick in school, or the quiet artsy chick that are actually pretty but no one else realized. Tee hee.
There are always points of no returns in our lives. Be it a first kiss that leads to somethin else, or that open football goal the kicker failed to score. All this made up the elements of the teenage flicks that i mentioned. All the not-so-innocence characters who seems real, just because they share the same common trait with us back then : dream.
For my next post, i'll go in depth to cover some of the movies, and what happened to the cast. Can't Hardly Wait would probably be the first flick i'll cover, just for the fact that the lines in the movie lands me myfirst girlfriend in high school. Tee hee.
I promise, my future posts would be better.
