IMMUNE-ENHANCEMENT GUIDELINES
IMMUNE-ENHANCEMENT GUIDELINES
1. Eat whole food – as ‘dense’ as is manageable, containing essential nutrients and requiring chewing.
2. Choose fresh organic vegetables, fruit and proteins (fish/meat) whenever they are available.
3. Reduce or eliminate simple sugars and replace with complex carbohydrates which are rich in nutrients (zinc, etc)
4. Reduce polyunsaturated and saturated fats and oils.
5. Use monounsaturated instead, such as olive oil with special emphasis on omega-3 oils obtained from fish and certain plant oils such as flaxseed and evening primrose for example.
6. Eat little and often throughout the day to improve absorption of nutrients from food.
7. Balance your food intake to ensure 65% of complex carbohydrates in the form of vegetable, fruits, pulses, grains, 15% protein ( fish, yoghurt, eggs, meat), and 20% fat.
8. Make sure that the fruit and vegetables eaten raw are thoroughly clean and free of parasites and bacteria, and easier to digest. If you have a ‘delicate’ digestive system, try steaming them lightly before eating.
9. Eat a whole variety of foods to help avoid becoming ‘sensitized’ to specific food families through frequent repetition.
10. If it is at all possible, try and avoid altogether chocolates, caffeine and alcohol.
