The British scientists and engineers are in the process of designing generators which will be under the floor and which will be able to tap the energy generated through. Just by using the pressure while walking is the 'simple' and 'simply complicated' idea. Not only will be energy be tapped but it can also be stored in batteries. This energy can then be used to switch on the common bulbs used.
The main idea behind the technology is that of the American military. It used small scale generators for the boots of the US military. The electricity generation takes place when the pressure is applied while walking. This experimentation which is being carried out in London by the engineers, expect that around 30,000 to 35,000 people use - walk on - the floor of a shopping mall every hour. And its enough to power 6ooo odd bulbs.
Supermalls and railway stations are their first destinations where this technology can be used due to the heavy pressure applied by large number of 'walkers'. This technology can then be used under rail lines and bridges. Because a heavy weight is automatically generated due to the rails. This will help to generate more and more energy due to the heavy moving objects.
