"Initiation of learning starts with this special ritual. This was a wide spread and must to perform ritual in ancient times and lost its attraction at present age. At present it is being limited to the traditional schools devoted for the study of Veda and its limbs. The combination of the full moon and the Shravana constellation is the first and foremost parameter to perform this ritual and this phenomenon comes in the lunar month of Shravana only. It can not be performed if an eclipse occurs on that day or Venus/Jupiter is in close conjunction with the Sun."

this practice is still in vougue in some parts of the country and places like Ayodhya and Varanasi enjoy the same at present also. it can be inferred that the grasping power of a child becomes more strong with the help of the comic property of that particular time.
