There is something wrong when we fix minimum wages for a worker. The state must take responsibility and they should declare the rate of minim wages and even individuals in India, when they are engaging labour and workers, they should be obliged to follow the rates prescribed by the state and they should not be at liberty to fix rates thmselves.
The state must float a budget meeting all the minimum requiremnets of a family and average number of working people in a family. The items should be specified and amount to be allolcated for that item be specified so that the people living on these wages should be able to run the family. The states are fixing minimum wages and they are also issuing nerrick rates for the districts. But these are also just minimum wages and there is no budget proposal with these rates and the workers are themselves responsible to run the family administration. The state is not responsbile to see whether these poor people are in a position to run the family administration or they are suffering all types of privations because of low income. They are not in a position to run their kitchen. They are not in a position to send their wards to schools. They are not in a position to provide suitable clothes to their family members. They are not in a position to provide suitable living accommodation for the family. They are not in a position to treat their ailing members because there is no budget provisions in the income. They are not in a position save something for the rainy days and when they are in those hard days, they suffer and ome of them die or commit suicide. If they take loan, they are not in a position to return those loans. The state is not taking responsibility and that is the reason, the man who is poor shall remain poor throughout in his life and he shall leave poverty as a legacy and so many generations shall suffer.
Here in India the rich are turning more and more rich and the poor goes down because of rising prices and rising needs and necessities. There is something wrong and even the most popular economists could not come down on these questions and solve these questions. No one is interested in preparing a budget scheme for those who are with minimum wages. The state must take up this responsibility and must guide the natiofn at this juncture because if we go like this, we shall never be in race with the advancing countries. We shall remain backward for ever.
