The seven wonders of the Ancient World
1. The Egyptian Pyramids- are more then 4000 years old and are the oldest of the ancient wonders of the world. Also the Egyptian Pyramids are the only one surviving today.
2. The Colossus of Rhodes- was a 32 meter high bronze statue of the sun god Helius. It was destroyed by a earthquake in 224 B.C.
3. The Hanging Garden of Babylon- was a series of terraces of trees and flowers along the banks of the Euphrates.
4. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus- was the tomb of Mausolus built by his widow. Only latter too be destroyed by an earthquake before the 15th century.
5. The Pharos of Alexandria- was the worlds first lighthouse located at the entrance of Alexandria harbor in Egypt.
6. The statue of Zeus at Olympia- was a 9 meter high wooden statue of the Greek god Zeus which was covered with gold and ivory. It was destroyed by fire in 475 AD.
7. The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus- was a marble temple in honor of the goddess of hunting and the moon. It was latter destroyed by the Goths in the 3rd century AD.
