In modern times most of the people whether they believe or not in religion, take to fasting due to obvious reasons. It is that we mostly take faulty and unbalanced diet like refined, synthetic and processed and fast foods. Not only this we also take white flour, fortified foods, white sugar and food loaded with chemicals and additives. Thus fasting is one of the most appropriate things to do in order to detoxify ourselves and prevent ourselves from many diseases and disorders that appear in the body with the loss of health.
Fasting is the best remedy to remove all clogged up and toxic waste as the process of digestion and elimination is slow. Fasting not only improves the digestive system but also keeps one toned up with less of fat accumulation.
Fasting is the oldest natural therapy which has been practiced since ancient times. People belonging to many sects and religions like Hindu, Jains, Muslims and Christians observe the ritual of fasting.
Fasting in simple words means living without food. The body also gets physical, mental and psychological rest with lesser eating at a stretch. Fasting for a day is very good for health. But fasting for many days together requires more rest and should be undertaken voluntarily and not forced. Fasting is also a means of protest by many well known personalities of the world like Mahatma Gandhi in his famous non violence movement in the times of British Raj.
