Being a mother...

vangie garcia's picture

Being a mother is not an easy task.
--You need to be a good model to your children.
--A good provider to your husband's needs.
--Doing household chores everyday makes you feel tired and at the same time, pressured if you don't reach your target time.
But is it true that being a mother really ends at home? Don't we have the so-called "GIMMICKS" among teenagers? Well, that's a crazy question for a mother like me who's turning 43 just few months from now.
When we got married and gave our vows, we answered "Yes, I do." Yes, I do love my husband but not yes, I do the household chores until my whole life through. I stand as:
--a CARETAKER of our house
--a CAREGIVER when my children got sick
--a TREASURER for keeping all the bills to be paid
--a SECRETARY of all groceries to be brought in the supermarket
--a PEACEMAKER when my children have a big fight
--a PRO or PERSONAL RELATION OFFICER when their relationship to their fellowmen are going wrong.
Neither a PRESIDENT nor a BOSS, I'm only a subordinate of my husband. The only consolation i get is I'm the MUSE OF THE KITCHEN, but more than that, I don't think any title for myself wherein I can find that satisfaction of being a mother.
But wait, I got the greatest gifts! I have a son, a daughter and a husband of my own. A family, though small is just right to say a happy family. My two kids both excel in school. I can say that my husband, though far working abroad, is a very loving and supportive husband indeed.
We, mothers, have no right to object nor to say that we're already hands up! And who cares with those hassles and hardship?? The most important thing is we are not tired of loving each other in spite of all these because we do love our "family"..
