Life's small pleasures...
On my way to the airport this morning, a flight flew right above the car.
“Uh! Don’t be a kid now and follow it’s movement through the sky,” I reminded myself. Or it could be arrogance. “Oh! So what’s new about it?”
Just then, I sighted a bunch of labourers perched over the airport fencing gleefully watching the taking off and landing of the planes.
The merry, the amusement, the excitement on their faces and in their body movements was intoxicating.
It made me introspect…
Why have we forgotten to derive joy from life’s small pleasures? Why do we become so ‘serious’ as adults. What is it to ‘behave yourself’? Why are little joys killed in the garb of maturity? Why don’t we like to admit that the ten rupee balloon at the roadside fills has the potential to fill our hearts today also as it did years ago? I’d be more comfortable to look at a plane if I had a child along so I could feed on its sight on the pretext of showing it to the child!!!
Why the inhibitions? Why? Why? Why? Why are we becoming so ‘behaved’ and ‘serious’ and ‘grown up’ and ‘mature’ that we have forgotten how to laugh heartily?
Is there an answer?
