Father´s Daughter

When our son was born, we were happy. Our first child, son and so beautiful. I will always remember as my husband hold him first time and little baby stopped to cry hearing his voice. The happiness lasted only one week. Our illusion of wonderful family disappeared after first serious examination at our doctor. She did not say straight what is with our son, she waited for expression of specialist, and he waited for expression of other specialist until we finely heard result – cerebral palsy.

Everything that happened later was as bad dream. We ran from hospital to rehabilitation centre, than to some specialist, again to hospital and all again. People use to think that it is very hard for mother to bear such situation, but how hard it had to be for father? He was out of healing process of our son. He was just driver who took us to doctor and back. He knew his son only from my speaking and he dreamed about our baby alone at home.

As if it is not enough, the cruel illness has changed the appearance of our son so much, that some people said to my husband, boy is not his child. How stupid people can be.

The situation calmed down after one year. Our son was quite well, but still cannot sit and walk. We have learned to recognize good doctors and to refuse bad one. We tried to spend time with our son as well as we could. He was more and more close to his father. They felt asleep together, they played the piano together and they went to swim together. My husband was afraid of touch our son, because he seemed to be so fragile for him. Still he tried.

When I saw how my husband go on with our son, I loved him more then whenever before. I decided to have another baby. Healthy baby. We planned it very carefully and I was very cautious during pregnancy. Our beautiful daughter was born one year ago. She is little copy of her father. She even behaves as her father. Husband is so proud of her, that he carries her everywhere on his arms and shows her to everybody we meet. She is our treasure. Her birth helped to us and to her brother very much.

No matter if child is boy or girl. No matter, if it is similar to mother or father. Now we know, that healthy baby is big gift from God that we have to protect.
