Energy conservation should be taught as a separate subject
In India the topic ‘Energy Conservation’ is treated as a chapter of science. Still now, most of our students read science, because they have to do that just to score good marks in the examinations and become an engineer or doctor – to earn a lot. So, it’s mostly an unconscious pulling on. Very few really bother.
However, if this subject is treated separately from school level itself like any other social studies, I feel the real focus will develop.
A separate paper with full marks, like other subjects (with practical too), will at least draw more attention of all students. People are debating here on introducing sex education in schools, but I think this topic does not have much scope of debate, comparatively easily it can be introduced, if the boards really want.
