The Ejected Woman

Yesterday I saw a woman who had been thrown out of her house.
She was sitting on a chair on the sidewalk outside of the delapidated house from which she had been ejected.
She asked me for a cigarette and I told her about the time I ran out of money two weeks before payday with nothing to buy food with.
I told her I had survived that experience although I didn't remember how.
I asked her what she was going to do. She said something had to give because it would soon be nighttime.
She didn't seem too depressed. She must be used to that kind of treatment.
I still don't see how it could be right to throw someone out of their home no matter what.
Its too severe a punishment for just not paying. There should at least be an alternative halfway house available for people in that situation.
The government spends millions of dollars on all kinds of things. That should be a priority.
Don't you think so ?

bryan, like shobhan said,

bryan, like shobhan said, she had noone to turn to. there are people like this everywhere. unless and until govt takes some initiative so many people will remain lost in wilderness. they constitute a part of the nation. why aren't they cared for then?

Wishing you happiness always!

The woman without a home

I agree with you Bryan, that that was too harsh a punishment meted to an old woman who probably has no one to turn to. Like you said there must be a welfare body catering to her basic needs.
