Fear Factors Of Math and Science subjects!!

satishKRT's picture

I don’t know why some people, at the other hand, do not love to like math and science subjects! Are there any fear factors or something? Let’s churn it out…

I think kids begin to fear these subjects as they feel these are as complexes, difficult and intricate. And one needs high degree of intelligence and concentration of brain in order to tackle these subject matters. I hate math but had earned lots of good marks in this very unpopular subjects.

I would hate math as much as I love it. I did not work on math but played with it as a game, throughout my student’s days. If somebody is not told in their earlier and primary level that the math and science subjects are interesting and easier, these remain as dominating as any monster, scaring and fearful! If one wants to master these seemingly fearsome subjects he need not to fear but to take these straight on, like a bull fighter! You can easily tame this terrifying animal called mathematics. Learn how to tame and ride on it. Once you learn how to tame this animal and begin to enjoy the riding over it, you master it. And at the opposite, once you’re told so and believe in it, you let the demon dominating over your panic buttons!

Actually it’s however totally wrong to blame students only. The schools and parents play their equal parts in creation of such fear factors. Subjects that you’ve got at ten plus two level of education, the science and math dominate the demand, commerce and other humanities subjects like social science are really like putting oneself on cross road of choices. Parents want their children to try science subjects as the first option as these top subjects have lots of promises to offer. Schools, instead of soothing the injury and cooling off the generated heat and pressure, make it more complex. It’s all about thinking as one does want to think. Build a confidence and interest as earlier as possible. If parents do want to try drawing children’s attention to those subjects, take a different approach. Introduce and teach these subjects like a game. Kids would happily come and lure over and may feel comfortable.

i guess the problem is with

i guess the problem is with our mindset. we take life too seriously. each individual excels in some field. it is difficult for a parent to appreciate their child's A+ grade in drawing when he has a B+ in Maths. had it been vice versa it would have been ok. Agreed, it is important to be well acquanted with maths and science. but do they realise that if it is a subject it is worth pursuing as a career! in life, excellence can only be achieved where satisfaction lies. else, the facade breaks one day! good writing. keep it up!

You are absolutely right satishKRT

But problem is also that there is not much time for better explanation of such difficult problems as in maths or science subject are.
