Broken Dolls

I read with disgust the story of an 11 year old girl in Vienna subjected to torture and sexual abuse by her biological father. How could the hand that should protect and support do more harm than anyone else?
This little girl was lured into the basement block where they lived in Amstetten in 1984, drugged and handcuffed by her father before she was imprisonned for 24 years. There were no windows in the basement and she gave birth to 7 children, three of them never saw sunlight or received education.
The man kept this a secret from his wife who was notified through a letter from her daughter not to search for her. As such, the poor old woman had been living with the thought that her daughter had run away from home.
This abusive father had the cheek to adopt three of his own grandchildren borne to him by his own daughter, claiming them to be abandoned.
Austrians are shocked with this revelation and have termed the man a 'monster' dad and the 'worst crime of all times.'
Both the older and younger women are receiving psychological counselling. What is going to happen to the 'monster' dad? However the residents and the authorities are being questioned for failing to notice 'the martyrdom in the horror house' just under their feet.
