Lessons From The Praying Mantis

I have always been a very observant person,but after battling with cancer, people noticed a slight change in my personality. I have become more sensitive, seeing a more profound meaning in almost every occurence, even in the most trivial thing- like the behaviour of a praying mantis in our garden. Part 3 - 10 years as Cancer Survivor

For the first time in our marital life, my husband cried and begged me to agree to a modified radical mastectomy. He assured me of his love no matter what. He touched my heart, especially as he repeatedly assured me he would love me - with breasts or no breasts. And so I agreed.

My mind is racing with thoughts and feelings that flashback from the time I first consulted a breast cancer surgeon. I went to see her alone, so when she told me I needed a fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB), she noticed my face and chest got red and she commented nonchalantly that I must be very nervous. (I thought to myself, but of course! How could I not be afraid?
