Alternative medicine always had a reputation for being “weird”, until recent years, which saw mainstream health practitioners working side by side in the study of alternative medicine. These days, alternative health practices are widespread. The main priority of holistic complementary medicine is the optimal attainment of the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of health. Properly chosen healing techniques combined with modification of lifestyle can safely heal many illnesses.
• Acupuncture – this involve the use of needles and/or moxibustion(the application of heat to acupoints) to prevent and treat disease. It is often used to treat cough, hypertension, depression, bronchitis, irregular menstruation and mostly painful conditions like arthritis, backpain and rheumatism.
• Alexander Technique – this is a method use to change the movement habits of a person’s day-to-day activities such as sitting, lying down, standing, walking, lifting. The method improves ease and freedom of movement, balance and body coordination. Most people try this technique to aid backache, stiff neck, and shoulder or carpal tunnel syndrome.
• Aromatherapy – involves the use of essential oils extracted from plants and flowers. The oils from plants and flowers have many myriad function upon skin absorption. It has calming effect, anti-bacterial, analgesic, uplifting and invigorating. It is commonly use in massage, inhalation, vaporization and bath.
